Lenovo unveiled the newest addition to its gaming portfolio designed for a wide audience of gaming enthusiasts across varying skill levels, the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook is the company’s first ever cloud gaming laptop. Delivering more power, faster speeds, and stunning visuals, this device also comes with new ChromeOS software features, including the ability to easily find and access the latest games while enjoying an elevated gaming experience.
The Chromebook is equipped with a 16-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10. It has a standard color coverage (100% sRGB), a maximum brightness of 350 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. There are two choices for the CPU. Customers can select either a Core i3-1215U or a Core i5-1235U from Intel. The Core i3 chipset houses two performance cores, four efficiency cores, and eight threads. The i5 model, on the other hand, has a total of twelve threads and two performance cores as well as eight efficiency cores,RAM – 8 GB 4266 MHz LPDDR4x, built-in storage – eMMC (128 GB) or SSD M.2 PCIE 2242 (256 GB / 512 GB ). The 2×2 Intel Wi-Fi 6E (802.11 ax) + Bluetooth 5 module is responsible for wireless communication. Traditionally for gaming devices, the Chromebook is equipped with an RGB-illuminated keyboard with an anti-ghosting function and 1.5 mm key travel. The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook runs, of course, on ChromeOS, and the manufacturer also notes the availability of Dropbox, Infinite Painter, Clip Studio Paint and Adobe Lightroom software for it.
Regarding cloud services, the Chromebook can work with NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta), and Amazon Luna (only available in the US). Searching and launching games across platforms is done using the Everything button in the lower left corner, and favorite games can be pinned to the taskbar for quick access in the future.
The Gaming Chromebook offers Bluetooth v5.0 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity options. Additionally, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, a microSD card slot, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, and two USB 3.2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery functionality are all available in terms of ports. The Gaming Chromebook weighs 1.82 kg. The IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook is backed by a 71Whr battery that Lenovo claims can power the laptop for up to 11 hours.
