MSI announced the brand new Socket AM5 motherboards which includes MEG X670E GODLIKE, MEG X670E ACE, MPG X670E CARBON WIFI and PRO X670-P WIFI to the brand-new AMD X670 Motherboard product lineup. With their new generation of motherboards MSI is offering support for both Intel XMP and AMD EXPO overclocking profiles with DDR5 memory, a unique set of “performance switch” options for custom MSI overclocking settings, and their “Memory Try It” feature for easy memory overclocking. In use of the 5 nm architecture and an all-new DDR5 platform, AMD Ryzen 7950X processors will have a ~13% IPC uplift with a boost frequency of up to 5.70 GHz and an average 29% Single Thread Performance gain compared to last generation.
“MSI’s new lineup of X670 motherboards are purposefully designed to give users a new generation of high-speed, efficient computing with AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Desktop processors,” said David McAfee, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Client Channel Business Unit, AMD. The motherboards will also feature multiple PCIe x16 expansion slots for graphics cards and other add-in-boards, but only X670E-based platforms will support PCIe 5.0 x16 for graphics adapters as well as multi-GPU capability, whereas the X670 model will support PCIe 4.0 x16 for GPUs, but a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface for M.2 SSDs. As for connectivity, the new AM5 platforms from MSI will feature USB 3.2 Gen2x2 ports, 2.5GbE or 10GbE connectivity, a Wi-Fi 6E adapter, and sophisticated cooling for VRM, chipset, and SSD. All MSI’s X670/X670E-based motherboards will support AMD’s Ryzen 7000-series processors with up to 16 Zen 4 cores as well as with dual-channel DDR5 memory support. Since the mainboards are designed for enthusiasts, they will all use high-quality 10 or eight-layer printed circuit boards and come equipped with very sophisticated multi-phase CPU voltage regulating modules that can deliver hundreds of watts of clean power to CPUs to maximize their overclocking potential.Â
