The world’s first Linux laptop (at least in a very long time) has arrived on the market as Tuxedo Computers’ Sirius 16 Gen 1 (via Phoronix). This is the Sirius 16 Gen 1 model, the hardware basis of which is an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor with a maximum operating frequency of 5.1 GHz and a Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics accelerator with 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory. The developers have equipped Sirius 16 Gen 1 with a 16.1-inch display that supports a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. The BOE panel is used, which offers a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m² and complete coverage of the sRGB color space. As for data storage, the notebook supports the use of two M.2 2280 solid-state drives with a total capacity of up to 8TB. There are two slots for installing DDR5-5600 RAM up to 96GB. The most important feature of the new product is the software platform used. The laptop comes preinstalled with Tuxedo OS based on Ubuntu with KDE Plasma Desktop. The company will also offer its WebFAI software, which provides access to all supported distributions through a simple configurator. Additionally, users can download Windows drivers. Connectivity-wise, the TUXEDO Sirius 16 Linux laptop comes with two full-featured USB-C (USB 4.0 Gen3x2 and USB 3.2 Gen2 (40 Gbps each)) ports with DisplayPort 1.4, two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps each) ports, an HDMI 2.1 port with HDCP 2.3, and an RJ45 LAN (1 Gbps) port. It also features a tri-band AMD RZ608 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax wireless card and Bluetooth 5.2.
